Calgary Branch Council was pleased to greet 150 guests at its annual Chinese New Year celebration on February 9th, 2013. Our chinese new year celebration took place during our fun-filled weekend which included a 2-day Regional Workshop, a Heavenly Realm Festival and Jai, and our annual branch meeting.
This year the Chinese New Year event was held at a restaurant and we were provided with customary 10-course fare.
Our event commenced with a traditional Lion Dance and we were entertained by two groups of musicians that each played chinese instruments. With the help of volunteers, we celebrated with a tai chi demo, a sabre demo and a silent auction that raised approximately $1,200.
