The McAllen International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) invited the Pharr, Texas Taoist Tai Chi Society members to participate in their Lunar New Year event. IMAS asked for a demonstration of Taoist Tai Chi. They celebrated the Year of the Snake by opening the Smithsonian exhibit 10,000 Springs Pavilion from Within the Emperor’s Garden in Beijing China.
Members Cathy Young, Geoffrey Ryan, Yvette Spence, Jan Iverson, and Sue Payseur participated in demonstrating the Tai Chi movements. They performed the first 17 moves for a beginner class. Then they showed the jong exercises followed with a continuing set.
Cathy explained the benefits of Taoist Tai Chi to the more than 35 people watching. Literature was distributed to the audience. IMAS plans to make the Chinese New Year an annual celebration.

Cathy
It’s nice to see some familiar faces in the group and know that they are still doing Tai Chi.
It won’t be too long before you come back to Welland. I hope our “COLD” will leave by the time you are here. Our temperarure seems to hover around -10C and slowly crawl to 7 or 8 during the day. We haven’t had much snow so far but who knows what the future may bring.
By the way, your plant is doing very well. I don’t think it misses you.
