The Costa Rican celebration of the Society’s 40th Anniversary included a large Awareness Day celebration on July 31, 2010. They provided demos, a free class and talks in the Main Square in Heredia and an open house in the branch’s rented space, which was renovated for the occasion. The branch also hosted the extended program, which included the showing of videos and serving of food. Despite heavy rain among our 100 guests was the President of the region, the head of social security (health service) for Costa Rica, Deputy Mayor and representatives of the local council. All were favourably impressed and initiated conversation for greater involvement in community health programmes at local and national level. Following the local celebration, more than 25% of the Costa Rican branch made it to Orangeville for the Society’s anniversary Awareness Day celebration.
