A birthday bash better than Bilbo Baggins’ — More than 60 members from around the Southeast Region swelled the ranks of the Louisville contingent to celebrate Kentucky’s 20th Anniversary, as well as participate in a two-day regional workshop attended by 87 tai chi devotees. From Louisville’s beginning students to tai chi veterans, it was all hands on deck to prepare for and attend to our out-of-town guests.
The chock-full, two-day event was highlighted by a celebration ceremony and vegetarian jai at the Louisville center, which was open to the public. Kentucky was honored to have several Society representatives in attendance, including Karen Laughlan, president of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society, MaryLou Gabbert, USA director, and Pegoty Packman, president of the Southeastern regional management committee. In addition, Louisville Metro Councilman Kevin Kramer, District 11, presented a mayoral proclamation in appreciation of the Taoist Tai Chi Society and its good work in the Louisville community promoting health and well-being.
The slideshow below captures scenes from the ceremony, the luncheon, and the workshop.
