On Sunday, May 1, the Sarasota, Florida, branch held its first annual Mother’s Day Banquet and first anniversary celebration. Seventy-five members and guests attended the luncheon and program, which featured a speaker from the neighborhood association, representatives from the Gulfcoast Chinese-American Association (GCAA) and the Sarasota Sister Cities Program, as well as Society members. Entertainment on the program included guitarist John McLaughlin, bagpiper Seth Kenny, and Chinese fan dancers from the GCAA.
As the branch does not yet have a full kitchen, Hao Wah caterers brought their mobile outdoor kitchen on site and prepared a delicious menu, served by the capable Sarasota members, on the branch’s new TTCS-logo dishes. Guests enjoyed browsing the silent auction, which raised funds for the branch’s future projects, and schmoozing at the donation bar.
Sarasota is already looking forward to next year’s banquet!
