The Eastern Region Centre hosted 211 members for the National Workshop last week-end, a new record for our recently acquired centre! A total of $42, 200 was raised through this event alone, which will be used for the construction of the kitchen that will begin in the coming weeks. This amount is on top of the $31, 000 raised since January through other fundraising activities.
We had the pleasant surprise to discover that Tony Kwong and Nicole Morency would lead the workshop. In addition to the foundations, the first 17 moves of the set were practiced. Members had a few opportunities to sing this week-end. First, after dinner on Saturday night while washing dishes, you could hear the classic “Alouette,” “Ne pleure pas Jeannette,” “Trois petits chats,” and “Chevaliers de la table ronde.” Then, on Sunday morning, Tony Kwong asked the group to sing during the Dan Yu practice, which lasted a full 20 minutes! It was probably another record for many of the participants. After this workshop, the Eastern Region has set the bar very high for future record-breaking events.
